Learn Myths & Realities about Security in the Cloud

What is cloud computing?

In simple terms it is the universal idea for the delivery of hosted services over the Internet.

Cloud computing delivers lots of benefits to the corporate world. But because of various myths professional bodies tend to suspect the power of cloud computing.

Let’s look at few popular myths & facts

Cloud is permanently insecure – Cloud providers have implemented plenty of security measurements. A good example is the existence of cloud service providers. If people never moved to the cloud the cloud service providers would have lost their place in the market

Using current security gadgets in the cloud – The tools which you used for data centres cannot be used in the cloud. Some might work & some might not. This might lead to security breaches as well.

  • Breaches in the cloud – No need to worry about this matter hence the technology is so developed, the cloud service providers use new technology to safeguard the cloud from threats.
  • Maintenance of cloud security is hard – Answer is no, as I said earlier, though they use different tools for security purposes, but for like monitoring you can use your existing methods in the cloud. It’s a matter of aligning the tools properly.
  • Physical control of data (because you can’t trust the cloud) – When you have physical data you have to have people to safeguard those, to maintain hardware and also also take proper security actions to protect data.
